Board of Supervisors: June 3 public hearing on fire hazard severity zones ordinance

Details
Written by: Lake County Board of Supervisors
Published: 20 May 2025
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
COUNTY OF LAKE
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Lake, State of California, will hold a PUBLIC HEARING to consider an Ordinance to designate Fire Hazard Severity Zones (FHSZ) in the Local Responsibility Areas (LRA) in the Unincorporated Lands of Lake County.

This ordinance updates the map to incorporate climate data and reflect today’s fire conditions. The updated model will adjust fire intensity scores based on the most extreme fire weather at a given location considering temperature, humidity, and wind speed. All areas in the State Responsibility Area, including water bodies like Clear Lake, require a Fire Hazard Severity Zone designation. Each jurisdiction is required to adopt the draft maps via ordinance. Amendments can be made to the map to increase the severity levels, but not decrease them.

The public hearing will be held in the Board of Supervisors' Chamber in the Courthouse on TUESDAY, JUNE 3, 2025, at 11:15 A.M., at which time and place interested persons may attend and be heard. Copies of the proposed Ordinance are available at the Office of the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors.

If you challenge the action of the Board of Supervisors on any of the above stated items in court, it may be limited to only those issues raised at the public hearing described in this notice or in written correspondence delivered to the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors at, or prior to, the public hearing.

Clerk of the Board

Lake County Health Services accepts proposals for temporary public health officer

Details
Written by: County of Lake
Published: 11 May 2025
LAKE COUNTY, Calif. — The Lake County Health Services Department is now accepting proposals for a temporary public health officer, or PHO, to provide essential public health leadership and service continuity while the county recruits a permanent, full-time PHO.

The individual selected for this role may also be retained as a back-up PHO once the full-time position is filled.

This temporary position is designed to support a primarily remote work model, enabling the temporary PHO to carry out key responsibilities including communicable disease reporting, regulatory oversight, and public health policy review from an offsite location.

Digital communication platforms will be used to ensure consistent engagement with Health Services staff, regulatory agencies and community partners.

Please note: In the event of a Board of Supervisors-declared emergency, the temporary PHO will be required to respond in person within Lake County. On-site leadership will be critical to coordinating with the medical health operational area coordinator, or MHOAC, and aligning response efforts with local, state, and federal systems.
