LAKEPORT – Gene Tardiff of Lower Lake was the lucky winner of a custom made Telecaster guitar, valued at $950, given away in a recent KPFZ 88.1 raffle fundraiser.


The guitar was handmade by local musician and guitar maker Clyde Colwell and generously donated to KPFZ, 88.1 FM Lake County Community Radio, for the fundraiser.


KPFZ is currently raising money needed to upgrade its signal. The station is a locally produced community radio station broadcasting from Mt. Konocti.


The winning ticket was drawn at the recent Country Joe McDonald concert on Oct. 17 at the Soper-Reese Community Theatre.

LUCERNE – Lakeport City Councilwoman Suzanne Lyons will be the guest speaker at the November meeting of the Lake County Democratic Club.


The club meets at noon on Saturday, Nov. 14, at the Lucerne Alpine Senior Center in Lucerne, located at 3985 Country Club Drive (corner of 10th & Country Club) in Lucerne.


The senior center serves breakfast from 9 a.m. until noon.


The public is invited. Membership in the Lake County Democratic Club is open to registered members of the Democratic Party.

HIDDEN VALLEY LAKE – Chic Le Chef, located in the Hidden Valley Hardester's Plaza, will donate 10 percent of the proceeds from this Monday night's take-out dinner to local Christmas charity Spirit of the Season.

Through the volunteer efforts of Spirit of the Season, toys and holiday food baskets are distributed to the less fortunate in the Middletown, Cobb and Hidden Valley Lake areas.

The chefs at Chic Le Chef have created a special autumn menu for the Nov. 9 event. Pork loin, roasted sweet potatoes, green beans with carmalized shallots, dinner rolls and pumpkin pie will be available for take-out.

The pork loin will feature a newly-released mustard rub by "Wine County Chef" Harold Umbretti. The rub will be available for purchase that evening with 10 percent of the proceeds going toward Spirit of the Season.

Dinners are $8 per person, may be ordered in any quantity and may be picked up between 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m., though they must be ordered in advance. Pumpkin pie is available for $2.50 per slice or $12 for a whole pie.

LAKE COUNTY – The Miss Lake County Scholarship Program is proud to announce two orientations for the upcoming pageant, which will be held on Jan. 23, 2010, at the Soper-Reese Community Theatre in Lakeport.


The orientations also are for the Outstanding Teen Pageant.


The orientation dates are Sunday, Nov. 8, at Konocti Dance Academy, 4274 Old Highway 53, Clearlake, and Saturday, Nov. 14, at the Mendo-Lake Credit Union Meeting Room, 963 11th St., Lakeport.


Both meetings will start at 2 p.m.


The teen program is open to ages 13-16 and the Miss Program is open to ages 17-24.


These are question and answer sessions so you can see what the program is about. If you come to the orientation, you are not obligated to compete and your parents are more than welcome to come with any questions.

 

Even if this is your first year competing, you will have a lot of fun and meet some great girls. Please check out the group's Web site at www.misslakeco.org for qualifications and any questions that can be answered about our program.

 

This year they are pleased to announce the start of the Princess Program. It is a great way to introduce young girls to the Miss America program and so much fun for the little girls to meet wonderful young women.

UPPER LAKE – The Northshore Dive Team will hold a meeting on Friday, Nov. 6.


The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at Northshore Fire Protection District's Upper Lake Station, located on Main Street in downtown Upper Lake. Training will follow.


Anyone who is interested in the team is encouraged to attend.

MIDDLETOWN – Middletown Florist and Gifts will host an open house for the P.A.C.K. Community Arts Academy of Middletown this Saturday, Nov. 7.
