LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Lake County Amateur Radio Society will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 26.

The group will meet at DJ’s Pizza on Main Street in Lower Lake.

All members of the public are welcome.

Amateur radio is a fun family hobby that also helps protect the community in times of emergencies and natural disasters.

KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – The Midsummer Fantasy Festival will take place this year on Saturday, Aug. 11.

The festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Steele Wines, 4350 Thomas Dr. (Thomas Dr at Highway 29), in Kelseyville.

Admission is free.

Cast your cares aside for an afternoon and evening of whimsical, fantastical merriment with characters of the realm of fantasy, with faerie-folk, elves, unicorns and pots of gold – from a dream that began at Midsummer's Night.

HIDDEN VALLEY LAKE, Calif. – Representatives from Anderson Marsh Interpretive Association (AMIA) will discuss efforts to prevent the closure of Anderson Marsh State Historic Park ( http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=483 ) and ensure that classroom education and park access remain available to the public at the Monday, August 13, meeting of the Hidden Valley Lake Garden Club.

The HVL Garden Club meets in the activity room of the HVLA administrative building, 18174 Hidden Valley Road.

Social gathering with refreshments begins at 9:30 a.m., followed by meeting and program at 10 a.m.

Details of programs and upcoming events at the park will be outlined as well as ways that Lake County residents can become involved in maintaining this important ecological and historic resource.

All meetings of the Hidden Valley Lake Garden Club are open to the public. The organization meets on the second Monday of each month.

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – The Star Chapter 442 motorcycle club will hold its next ride on Sunday, July 28.

They are meeting at Xsite Motorsports at 14883 Lakeshore Drive in Clearlake.

There will be a chapter meeting at 9 a.m. with kickstands up for the ride at 10 a.m.

They will ride toward the coast on some very cool roads to Navarro for lunch then take it from there, depending on if there is fog.

LAKEPORT, Calif. – Lakeport Cinema 5’s free Summer Kids Movie Series will feature “The Lorax” this Thursday, July 26.

The nine-week series has showings each Thursday at 10 a.m. through Aug. 16.

Doors will open at 9 a.m. each Thursday morning. The movie will show in as many theaters as needed, as each auditorium fills up, the movie will be started in that auditorium until the final auditoriums start at 10 a.m.

Admission is free for everyone, not just children. All the movies in the series are rated PG. There will even be a $4 drink and popcorn special at the snack bar.

The remaining shows in the series include “Tale of Despereaux,” “Happy Feet 2” and “Yogi Bear.” None of the movies will be shown in 3D.

LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Meals On Wheels Thrift Store is holding a 50-percent off sale of its entire inventory as a fundraiser for Operation Tango Mike on Friday, July 27.

The goal the Lakeport Senior Activity Center and its thrift store is to raise enough money to pay for the shipping of 100 boxes through Operation Tango Mike, so a portion of the day’s sales will be donated.

The store and the senior community recognize the great effort and benefit to local soldiers and their families and want to support in every way they can.

Donations have been coming in during the month of July at the senior center and the thrift store.

Everyone is invited to shop the store from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. The store is open during the concerts at the park with extended hours.
