MIDDLETOWN – Catholic Charities’ third Women’s Accessories Luncheon will be held on Saturday, July 17, from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Middletown.


A donation of $20 includes lunch, a chance at some great raffle prizes and the prospect of nabbing some great costume jewelry at even greater prices. All are welcome.


If you have jewelry to donate such as earrings, necklaces, pendants, rings and/or pins, they are much in need, as are hats and purses.


Scarves, belts or shoes cannot be accepted.


Items may be dropped off in special boxes in the back of church where tickets are available, or at Catholic Charities’ office at 21297 Calistoga St., Middletown.

LAKEPORT – The Lake County Department of Public Works said overlay and rehabilitation work that's part of a storm damage repair project will take place on Soda Bay Road starting this Wednesday, June 23, and lasting through July 9.


The department reported that at mile post marker 7.68 the road will be subject to single-lane traffic control with 15-minute maximum delays between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., Monday through Friday.


The roadway will be open to all traffic during nonwork hours, weekends and holidays.


The public is urged to drive with caution in the area.

LAKEPORT – “Power Up Your Nonprofit Web site,” a training for Lake County nonprofit organizations, will be held on Wednesday, June 30.


The training will take place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Lake Family Resource Center, 890 Lakeport Blvd., Lakeport.


Learn why and how your organization should improve its Web presence to effectively compete in today's marketplace.


They will explore how nonprofit organizations are telling their story, gaining credibility and attracting resources using cost-effective Web sites.


The free session will be presented by Teddie Pierce of Small Nonprofit Help, and Carol Cole-Lewis, Internet marketing coach.


Seating is limited so be sure to sign up early.

LAKEPORT – People planning to save $5 each on their admission to this year's Home Wine Makers Festival are urged to act fast, as sales of discounted tickets will end Friday at 6 p.m.


Tickets priced at $20 at the gate are offered for just $15 if purchased in advance.


They are available in Lakeport at The Kitchen Galley, Shari's Secret Garden and Watershed Books, all on Main street downtown, as well as Catfish Books in the Safeway Mall and the Lakeport Chamber of Commerce.


In Clearlake they may be obtained at the Chamber of Commerce, while High Valley and Shannon Ridge Wineries – both on Highway 20 in Clearlake Oaks – also carry them.


Other outlets include Rosa D'Oro and Wildhurst Wineries in Kelseyville and Steele and Robledo Family Wineries in Finley. Tulip Hill Winery in Nice also handles advance ticket sales.


The festival will take place on Saturday, June 26, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Library Park in Lakeport.


It is a major fundraiser for Clear Lake Performing Arts, with proceeds going to underwrite the Lake County Symphony and Youth Orchestras, and other youth music support programs.

LAKEPORT – Lake County Community Radio, KPFZ 88.1 FM, is holding a benefit silent auction and yard sale on Saturday, June 26.


The event starts at 9 a.m. in the Lincoln-Leavitt Insurance parking lot, 650 N. Main St., next to Natural High School and just a stroll from the wine festival also being held that day in downtown Lakeport.


Come peruse through donations from all over the county.


Bring your stuff and your money and you just might get lucky while supporting free-speech radio in Lake County.

KELSEYVILLE – The Riviera Heights Clubhouse was the lovely location of the Clear Lake Trowel & Trellis Garden Club's installation of officers, held June 15.


After members enjoyed a delicious potluck, a special guest and her family were introduced.


Elena Tipton from Clear Lake High School was the recipient of the $1,000 Clear Lake Trowel and Trellis Garden Club Scholarship honoring Carol Kesey.


Sarah L. Johnson from Kelseyville High School was the recipient of the $1,000 Clear Lake Trowel and Trellis Garden Club Scholarship in memory of Elizabeth Whitehead, but Johnson was unable to attend.


Outgoing Vice President Jo Douville presented a gift certificate from the club to thank outgoing President Jo Jameson. There was much applause for a job well done.


Nora Gerrard installed the new officers who will serve one-year terms.


The new officers are President Linda Waterstraat, Vice President Helen Turley, Treasurer Rena Clifton, Secretary Marva Brandt, and Parliamentarian Jo Shaul.


Waterstraat's theme for the year is “Grow Along With Us.”


Linda invited all members to the planning meeting which will be held at Mendo-Lake Credit Union conference room on June 28 at 9 a.m. The officers, chairman, and members will plan out the whole year's activities.


The club meets at noon on the third Tuesday of the month, September through May, at the Scotts Valley Women's Club House, 2298 Hendricks Road, Lakeport.


Members, guests and all interested are most welcome. President Linda Waterstraat, 707-245-4731, invites interested gardeners to join the group.
