LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – The Lake County Air Quality Management District is seeking applicants to fill a public member position on the district’s hearing board.

The hearing board meets infrequently and sits to consider permit condition variances, abatement orders and permit appeals.

Hearings are formal and judicial in nature.

Submissions must be received by Sept. 10, 2012, for consideration.

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – A meeting for residents in the Spring Valley, New Long Valley, and Old Long Valley areas who were impacted by recent wildfires will be held on Monday, Aug. 20.

The meeting will take place from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Moose Lodge, located at 15900 E. Highway 20 in Clearlake Oaks.

District 3 Supervisor Denise Rushing will lead the meeting, with participation from state and local agencies including first responders and those that provided support and assistance.

LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Lake County Amateur Radio Society will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23.

The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the Lakeport Senior Center, 527 Konocti Ave., Lakeport.

They will discuss how they will help out at the Lake County Fair and how they assist during emergency operations.

All members of the public are welcome.

Amateur radio is a fun family hobby that also helps protect the community in times of emergencies and natural disasters.

Upload your best photo of the Wye Fire or a Wye Fire related subject (like fire engines, aircraft working the fire, or lines of evacuated vehicles) to the Lake County Fair Facebook page for a chance to win two admission tickets and two carnival wristbands good any day of the Lake County Fair.

The photo contest ends Friday, Aug. 24, at 3 p.m.

The group meets every Monday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. – or later if there is a tournament – in the meeting room at the Lakeport McDonald's, 1400 Todd Road.

The next meeting is Monday, Aug. 20.

The Lake County 29ers Cribbage Club is affiliated with national and international clubs, including the American Cribbage Congress, and plans to develop a team to play in tournaments around the state.
