LAKEPORT – The Lake County Flying Saucer Club will meet this Saturday, Nov. 28.


The group will meet at 1 p.m. at McDonald's on Todd Road in Lakeport.


Finish your shopping early and stop by and join the discussion.


The last meeting was filmed and is being shown at various times on TV 8 (PEG TV). The meeting may be filmed this month as well. If you are camera shy, you can opt out of being filmed.


They will gather in the meeting room at the back of the restaurant, just look for the flying saucer sign.


All meetings are free and open to all ages and planetary affiliations.

CLEARLAKE – Hospice Services of Lake County and Orchard Park Assisted Living and Memory Care Community are teaming up this year to host a very special event, “Hope for the Holidays.”


During the holidays, feelings and emotions may be magnified especially for those who have experienced a loss. At times, this grief may feel overwhelming.


This special gathering will offer practical tips and suggestions for self care and ways to cope with stress during this season.


Hope for the Holidays will be held from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, at Orchard Park Assisted Living and Memory Care Community, 14789 Burns Valley Road, next to Redbud Library.


Refreshments will be served.

CLEARLAKE – The Clearlake Rotary will host a free community Christmas dinner on Saturday, Dec. 12.


The dinner will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Burns Valley School multipurpose room, 3620 Pine St., Clearlake.


On the menu will be ham, cranberry sauce, yams, pumpkin pie, egg nog, tea and coffee.


Rotary's special guest, Santa Claus, also will make an appearance.

MIDDLETOWN – Come experience the winter holiday season in small-town USA when the annual “Christmas in Middletown” event takes place Saturday, Dec. 12.


The event will take place from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., rain or shine, in downtown Middletown.


Minnie Cannon School will once again be offering a carnival in the gym and a live nativity will be seen on the White House porch.


Santa will be in front of Middletown Florist & Gifts located in the Middletown Plaza, handing out candy canes. Be sure to bring your camera for photos of your children with Santa.


Studio 175 will be hosting their annual Dutch Oven Goodness at the corner of Highway 175 and Bush Street.

The first 100 people to bring a portable CD player with batteries to the Middletown Florist & Gifts by 6 p.m. on Saturday will receive a Free CD of holiday music. HIDDEN VALLEY LAKE – Avoid mall madness and benefit the Lake County Rural Food Project, too, with a special culinary class on Sunday, Nov. 29.


Chic Le Chef will host the class on gourmet Christmas gifts. Fifteen percent of class proceeds will go to feeding the hungry in Lake County.


In October more than 700 people received food through the Rural Food Project program.


Class will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. the Sunday after Thanksgiving and advance sign-ups are required.


Chef Esther Oertel will lead the class in making gourmet mixes for spice blends, coffee drinks, soup, cookies and granola, all packaged beautifully and ready to give away.


Gift packaging and decorative extras are included in the class fee of $45.


Chic Le Chef is located in the Hidden Valley Plaza next to Hardester's Market.

UKIAH – Santa is coming to Ukiah.


The Greater Ukiah Chamber of Commerce and the city of Ukiah welcomes you to the Small Town Christmas event at the Alex R. Thomas Plaza in downtown Ukiah.


The Christmas celebration will be held on Saturday, Dec. 5.


Enjoy cookies, juice, and a free photo with Santa under the pavilion from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.


The evening is complete with music, vendors and tree lighting, and will be followed by the Truckers Light Parade.
