LAKEPORT, Calif. – The regular last Sunday of the month meeting of the Lake County Flying Saucer Club will take place on Sunday, March 31.

The meeting will take place from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the meeting room at McDonald’s on Todd Road in Lakeport.

NICE, Calif. – The Sons of Italy Nice hosts a pasta feed from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., on the first Sunday of the month.

The next event is April 7.

Come and enjoy a choice of homemade Italian red vegetarian or meat sauce, garlic bread and salad for $8. You may add sausages and meatballs for $2 more. Takeout also is available.  

The bar is open for socializing. Everyone is welcome.

KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – There will be an informational and organization meeting to establish the Kelseyville Neighborhood Watch on Wednesday, April 3.

The meeting will take place beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Westamerica Bank on Main Street in Kelseyville.

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Public Services Director Caroline C. Chavez announced that the County Wide Parks and Recreation Advisory Board Committee is recruiting to fill the vacancy on the Park Board for District 4, which encompasses the greater Lakeport area.  

The Park Advisory Board meetings are held quarterly at rotating locations: Lakeport, Lucerne, Lower Lake and Middletown from the hours of 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Anyone interested in applying for the vacancy should contact Assistant Clerk to the Board of Supervisors Mireya Turner at 707-263-2371 for an application.

LAKE COUNTY

Highway 29

– Caltrans will perform routine maintenance from Bell Hill Road to the Kelsey Creek Bridge beginning Thursday, April 4. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., weekdays. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate 10-minute delays.

– Caltrans will perform routine maintenance from Ackley Road to the junction of Routes 29/175 near Lakeport on Tuesday, April 2, and Wednesday, April 3. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate 10-minute delays.

Highway 53

– Highway widening and rehabilitation from 40th Avenue to the junction of Routes 20/53 will continue through Friday, March 29. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., weekdays. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate five-minute delays. Contractor – Teichert Construction of Davis.

MENDOCINO COUNTY

Highway 1

– NFS Productions of Universal City has been issued a Caltrans Encroachment permit for filming near Windly Hollow Road beginning Thursday, April 4. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate five-minute delays.

– Replacement of the Greenwood Creek Bridge will continue. One-way traffic control with a temporary signal will be in effect 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Motorists should anticipate five-minute delays. Contractor – Golden State Bridge, Incorporated, of Martinez.

– NFS Productions of Universal City has been issued a Caltrans Encroachment permit for filming from Elk to 0.5 mile south of Navarro Bluff Road on Wednesday, April 3. Work hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate 30-minute delays.

– Slipout repairs 1.6 miles south of Navarro Bluff Road will continue. One-way traffic control with a temporary signal will be in effect 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Motorists should anticipate five-minute delays. Contractor – Green Right O'Way Constructors of Willits.

– Bridge painting at the Salmon Creek Bridge and the Albion River Bridge will continue. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., weekdays. One-way traffic control with a temporary signal will be in effect 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Motorists should anticipate five-minute delays. Contractor – Jeffco Painting and Coating of Vallejo.

– NFS Productions of Universal City has been issued a Caltrans Encroachment permit for filming near the Albion River Bridge on Wednesday, April 3. Work hours are 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate five-minute delays.

– Metal beam guardrail repair at various locations from Little River Airport Road to Casper Vista Point will continue. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. , weekdays. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate five-minute delays. Contractor – Coral Construction of Wilsonville.

– Metal beam guardrail repair at various locations from the Abalobadia Creek Bridge to the Hardy Creek Bridge will continue. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., weekdays. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate five-minute delays. Contractor – Coral Construction of Wilsonville.

Highway 20

– Metal beam guardrail repair at various locations from the south junction of Routes 20/101 to the Cold Creek Bridge No. 5 will continue. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., weekdays. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate five-minute delays. Contractor – Coral Construction of Wilsonville.

Highway 101

– Caltrans will perform slide repairs near the Korean War Veterans Memorial Bridge (near Frog Woman Rock). Northbound traffic will be restricted to one lane 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Motorists may experience minor traffic slowdowns.

– Caltrans will perform routine maintenance from East Side Road to the Feliz Creek Bridge on Friday, March 29. Work hours are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate 10-minute delays.

Highway 128

– NFS Productions of Universal City has been issued a Caltrans Encroachment permit for filming near the junction of Route 1/128 on Wednesday, April 3. Work hours are 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate five-minute delays.

– NFS Productions of Universal City has been issued a Caltrans Encroachment permit for filming from 0.6 mile west of Navarro Ridge Road to Flynn Creek Road on Tuesday, April 2. Work hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate five-minute delays.

– NFS Productions of Universal City has been issued a Caltrans Encroachment permit for filming from 0.5 mile east of Gschwend Road to Philo Greenwood Road on Tuesday, April 2. Work hours are 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate five-minute delays.

– NFS Productions of Universal City has been issued a Caltrans Encroachment permit for filming from 0.2 mile east of the junction of Routes 128/253 to the Robinson Creek Bridge on Tuesday, April 2. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate five-minute delays.

Highway 162

– PG&E of Sacramento has been issued a Caltrans Encroachment permit for utility repairs near the Town Creek Bridge on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 2 and 2. Work hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. . One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate five-minute delays.

Work on all these projects is weather permitting and subject to change. Caltrans advises motorists to drive with caution when approaching work areas and to be prepared to stop at traffic control stations.

The Caltrans Traffic Operations Office has reviewed each project and determined that individual project delays are expected to be less than the statewide policy maximum of 30 minutes, unless noted otherwise above.

HIDDEN VALLEY LAKE, Calif. – Elizabeth Eaholtz, who exhibited some of  the marvelous dolls she makes in Stone House last September, will be the guest speaker at the monthly meeting of the Stone House Historical Society on Tuesday, April 2.

Eaholtz, a resident of Hidden Valley Lake, will describe the processes she uses to replicate historic  dolls, from molding the body parts to creating the clothing. She’ll also touch on the history of costuming.

The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. in the activities center next to Hidden Valley Lake Association offices. Nonresidents may enter on meeting days by leaving their names at the Hartmann Road gate.

Stone House is State Historical Marker No. 450, as the oldest building in Lake County.
