LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Lake County Democratic Central Committee will meet on Thursday, Nov. 3.


The monthly meeting, which begins at 7 p.m., will take place at Lake County Tax Services Office, 1210 S. Main St., Lakeport.


Agenda items include a report on the recent annual legislators' barbecue and an update on voter registration efforts throughout the county and plans for future voter registration opportunities.


Also on the agenda are reports from Peter Windrem, representatives for Congressman Mike Thompson; Joey Luiz, representative for Assemblyman Wes Chesbro; and Sunol Westergren, representative for Sen. Noreen Evans.


Meetings are open to the public and committee membership is open to all registered Democrats.


The Lake County Democratic Central Committee is the official governing body of the Democratic Party in Lake County.

KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – The Lake Family Resource Center is commemorating Domestic Violence Awareness Month throughout October, with a special final event planned on Wednesday, Oct. 26.


On that day, from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Lake Family Resource Center’s Clearlake office at 15312 Lakeshore Drive will be the site of the Domestic Violence Clothesline Workshop and T-Shirt Display.


The workshop will be available for those who wish to honor a loved one, a domestic violence survivor or victim.


The resulting display of the art T-shirts bearing witness to violence against women, men and children will be hung until Nov. 1 at the Clearlake office.


Shirts created at the workshop will be hung again next year as part of the continuing display of art honoring domestic violence survivors and victims.


Shirts and paints are being provided for your art. Don’t miss the opportunity to make your statement.


Lake Family Resource Center is determined to be call awareness to the tragedy of domestic violence in the hope of ending it in Lake County.


The group provides a multitude of services to build family stability and strength, and supports Lake County residents in achieving stable, self-sufficient, and healthy families and communities.

KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – Come and celebrate the Christmas in the Country, Merchant Open House and Parade of Lights on Friday, Dec. 2, and become a part of the Parade of Lights.


Participants are welcomed to join in making this year's light parade the best.


Last year was the biggest parade ever and organizers are looking forward to this year being just as exciting.


Participants are encouraged to decorate trucks, cars, floats and boats, horses, wagons, scooters and community groups. Anything brightly lit is welcome.


Parade lineup will begin at 5:30 p.m. in front of Gard Street School, and the Holiday Light Parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Main Street.

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – The Lake County Registrar of Voters Office will commence processing vote by mail ballots for the Nov. 8 general district election, on Monday, Oct. 24, at 8 a.m.


The processing of the vote by mail voter ballots will continue through Election Day as well as, during the official canvass.


The counting of the official ballots will commence on Tuesday, Nov. 8, in the Registrar of Voters Office, Room 209 on the second floor of the Lake County Courthouse, 255 N. Forbes St., Lakeport.


Results will not be announced until after the close of the polls at 8 p.m.


The official canvass will commence on Wednesday, Nov. 9, at 9 a.m. and will continue daily – excluding weekends and holidays – until completed.


Observers are invited to view the processing and counting of the ballots, but shall not interfere with the election process.

LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Lake County Registrar of Voters Office will conduct state-required testing on ballot tabulation computer and software on Thursday, Oct. 27.


Pursuant to regulations of the California State Commission on Voting Machines and Vote Tabulating Devices, a logic and accuracy test will be conducted for the ballot tabulation computer and software to be used for the Nov. 8 general district election.


The test will begin at 2:30 p.m. in the Registrar of Voters Office, second floor, Room 209, Lake County Courthouse, 255 N. Forbes St., Lakeport.


All interested persons are invited to observe this test.

KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – Kelseyville’s Christmas in the Country and Parade of Lights will return on Friday, Dec. 2.


Join the community members for an old-fashioned Christmas in the Country, merchant open house and parade of lights from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.


The parade begins at 6:30 p.m. with the biggest and best light parade in Lake County.


Santa will light the town Christmas tree at the firehouse, followed by photos with Santa across the street at Westamerica Bank where David Neft, Lake County's piano man, will be entertaining all with holiday music.


Bring the family and delight in the towns decorations, where holiday music and soft scents of the season mingle in the crisp winter air.


Enjoy a ride through town on a decorated mule drawn carriage from Eleven Roses Ranch, visit the local merchants for free hot cocoa, cider and cookies and stroll down Main Street greeting old friends and making new ones.


Have a chili and chowder dinner at Kelseyville Presbyterian Church, then visit St. Peter's Catholic Church for holiday goodies, walk down and visit Kelseyville United Methodist Church and the Unitarian Universalist Church who have recently begun sharing the building with the Methodist church for coffee, cocoa and cookies and choir singing holiday tunes.


Bring some canned food or make a donation for the annual food drive to help local families.


Get in the holiday spirit and join in for an old-fashioned Christmas in the Country.
