LAKEPORT, Calif. – The 26th annual Lakeport Holiday Parade on Saturday, Nov. 24, was attended by several hundred people lining Main Street.
The parade followed activities during the afternoon by the Lakeport Main Street Association which included photos with Santa and an Elf Treasure Hunt.
Judges for this year’s parade were: Anja Koot, Hospice Services of Lake County; Paul Breunig, Hillside Honda/Yamaha; and Robert Boccabella, Business Design Services in Lakeport.
Paul Reading graciously handled the announcing of the parade and began the evening with a reading on the history of “Yes, Virginia there is a Santa Claus.”
Although six of the pre-entries were not able to join in the parade, it was a delight for all who attended as participants and spectators.
Special thanks goes to the Savings Bank of Mendocino for being the major sponsor this year and to Mendo Mill Lumber & Home Center for supplying our parade stage, said Chamber President Jim Magliulo.
Many thanks also to the Lakeport Police Department, Lakeport Public Works Department for all their efforts in clearing the way for the parade with blocking off the traffic and doing “barricade duty.”
The Lakeport Fire District entered two engines, the second of which carried that jolly ol’ St. Nick himself.
Thank you to Lake County Chamber volunteers Robert Boccabella; Lori Palmeiri of Hey….Hot Dog; Dianna Hendrick, Superior Court of Lake County; Scott Harter, city of Lakeport; John Fulton (retired); Dan Comacho of The Ice Water Company; and Jim Magliulo, CPS Country Air/Wine Barrel Crafting. All these folks assisted in decorating and taking down decorations for the stage.
For the 22nd year in a row, Ginny Clinton chaired the line up committee which included her husband Barry Clinton; Mike Gomes of The Office Spot; Mike Riley of Riley Cab Co.; and Mike Magbie of Lakeport Ford. It takes many volunteers to bring events to our communities and they are all much appreciated.
The Lake County Chamber of Commerce wishes everyone a Very Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year.
