LAKEPORT – The Lakeport Fire Protection District will hold a training burn this Wednesday, July 21.


Chief Ken Wells said the burn will be held at the shooting range at Highland Springs between Lakeport and Kelseyville.


Participating will be Lakeport Fire Protection District firefighters as well as Cal Fire staff.


A briefing will take place at 6 p.m., with the burn starting at 7 p.m. Wells said they should be done no later than 9:30 p.m.


He said neighbors in the area have been notified about the training.


MIDDLETOWN – Join CBS 5 at Twin Pine Casino in Middletown this Saturday, July 24, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. for The Price Is Right contestant search.

LAKEPORT – The Lake County Amateur Radio Society meeting will be held at the Lakeport Senior Center, 527 Konocti Ave., Lakeport at 7 p.m.


All visitors are welcome to come to our meetings and learn about amateur radios and what the club is involved in.

KELSEYVILLE – On July 15 at the Konocti Lioness Club's monthly meeting held at the Riviera Hills Restaurant in Clearlake Riviera, Patricia Beedle was inducted as a new member.


The guest speaker for the meeting was Cheri Johnson of the Totes for Teens program. This much-needed program provides tote bags filled with a variety of useful and fun items which teens in foster care really appreciate.


The Lioness Club presented Cheri Johnson with a $500 check as a donation for this program.

LAKEPORT – The Lake County Democratic Central Committee will meet on Thursday, Aug. 5.


The monthly meeting will take place beginning at 7 p.m. at Lake County Tax Services Office, 1210 S. Main St. in Lakeport.


Agenda items include guest speaker Victoria Brandon, Lake County liaison to the Barbara Boxer for U.S. Senate Campaign, who will outline how local Democrats can participate and support the reelection of Sen. Boxer with house parties and by joining the Barbara Boxer Committee.


Hilary Crosby, California Democratic Party controller, will speak about the Democratic Party 2010 Plan.


Also on the agenda will be reports from Congressman Mike Thompson, Assemblyman Wes Chesbro and state Sen. Patricia Wiggins, details on the committee's participation in the campaigns of endorsed candidates Doug Rhoades for Lake County district attorney and Francisco Rivero for Lake County sheriff, ongoing voter registration at local farmers' markets and the Fall Fundraiser Legislators Barbecue, scheduled for Oct. 16.


Meetings are open to the public and committee membership is open to all registered Democrats.


The Lake County Democratic Central Committee is the official governing body of the Democratic Party in Lake County.
