LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – 4-H Star ranks are not easily achieved, especially those awarded above the club level.

Yet, the 2012-13 4-H year brought a record number of Lake County All Star and Emerald Star candidates, 10 in all.

Teens commit to a community service or educational project, plan all the steps and time line, report on their progress to the county 4-H council, and learn a lot about leadership and problem solving along the way.

The most recent 4-Hers to earn their star award put in many hours teaching and organizing a county wide Junk Drawer Robotics project for younger members.

The three teen leaders from two local clubs teamed together: Edison & Elliot Serena, Cobb Mt 4-H, and Ethan Jones, Blue Heron 4-H.

Other candidates and projects include the following: All Star candidate Jocelyn Bennet (Cole Creek 4-H) Horse Show Event; Fall 2012 All Star Ambassador Shae Odom (Scotts Valley 4-H) Co. Poultry Field Day; Emerald Star candidates Cord and Nate Falkenberg (Scotts Valley 4-H) ORB (online record book) technology training sessions; Emerald Star candidate Sean Rudden (Anderson Marsh 4-h) Dog Show Field Day, Emerald Star candidates Flora Iberra (Kelseyville 4-H) and Chanti Christenson (Anderson Marsh 4-H) Easter Photos: Rabbit Project Fund raiser.
