This training is geared towards to November elections for school boards, community service districts or November 2012 elections for supervisors and city councils.

“Women considering a first run for public office and political veterans should attend this valuable training to learn how to run to win without costly consultants and media budgets,” said Val Muchowski , CTA Women's Leadership Trainer and NWPC CA Vice President of Education and Training. “We’re also running a special track for people running for judge.”

Campaign skills training will be taught by NWPC certified trainers Estelle Clifton of Ukiah, Lynda McClure of Boonville and Val Muchowski of Philo. This training is open to all.

Besides skills training, the day-long session includes campaign handbook, lunch with a panel of politically knowledgeable women and a wine reception.

Topics include why run, getting started, fundraising, campaign team and endorsements.

Estelle Clifton of NWPC-Mendocino will moderate a luncheon panel of politically knowledgeable women.

The National Women's Political Caucus (www.nwpc.org) is a nationwide multi-partisan organization working to build women's participation in the political process and increasing the number of women in elected and appointed positions, by recruiting, training, and supporting women who seek those elected and appointed offices. LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Local author, editor and animal rights advocate Jan Allegretti is the guest on KPFZ radio's “Earth Wise.”

The show airs Friday, Feb. 11, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on 88.1 FM.

Allegretti is coauthor of “The Complete Holistic Dog Book, Home Health Care for our Canine Companions.”

She has recently authored “Listen to the Silence, Lessons from Trees and Other Masters.”

Allegretti works with caretakers of companion animals, farm animals and wildlife.

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Lake County Public Services Director Kim K. Clymire has announced that the Eastlake Landfill and the Lakeport Public Services office will be closed Monday, Feb. 21, in observance of the Presidents’ Day holiday.

Both facilities will re-open on Tuesday, Feb. 22.

Normal operating hours at the landfill are 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. The Public Services office is normally open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
