LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Are you ready to try something new?

Whether you are a new mom or an experienced grandmother, Mother-Wise has an opportunity for you.

As one of the lead support resources for Lake County moms, Mother-Wise is increasing its efforts by hosting weekly gatherings for mothers and their babies.

With a different focus each week, the meetings give moms a well-deserved break, and an opportunity to interact with other moms in their community.

All meetings are from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., and childcare is provided for the duration for children under age 5.

Lakeport, Middletown and Clearlake meetings are held every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, respectively.

In January, Lakeport’s meetings will feature instruction on postnatal yoga, followed in February by instruction on infant massage.

The Saathi home visiting companion program continues to expand, and Mother-Wise has several upcoming events for its volunteers.

Monthly meetings help expand its volunteers’ toolsets, and are held the second Tuesday of every month.

During the next monthly meeting, on Tuesday, Jan. 10, Dr. Laurie Daly, Ed. D, professor of early childhood education at Yuba College’s Lake campus, will present Dunstan Baby Language. This is a fascinating technique that facilitates real communication with infants.

The meeting is open to all who would like to attend, including new parents.

To reserve a space please call Vicki Hays, 707-263-6169.

The next Saathi companion training is on Saturday, Jan. 28, in Clearlake.

This is a one-day training that will prepare volunteers for home visiting with local moms who could use some help adjusting to life with their new baby.

For more information about Mother-Wise, please contact Jaclyn Ley at 707-349-1210.
