HIDDEN VALLEY LAKE, Calif. – Stone House Historical Society officers announced that Hidden Valley Lake’s own “Sound of Music” will be the featured entertainment at the annual Christmas festivities on the evening of Saturday, Dec. 7.

Once again, the Stone House party is in conjunction with Hidden Valley Lake Association tree-lighting celebrations.

Six home-schooled and obviously talented Salvadori youngsters – Valentina, 11; Natalina, 10; Adlai, 7; Angelina, 6; Seraphina and Peter, both 4 – will sing familiar Christmas songs, first in the historic Stone House and later for guests at the Stone House party in the HVLA Activities Center.

Instrumental solos will be offered by the two eldest children. Valentina will offer selections on the dulcimer, which she has just mastered. Like her sister Natalina, she is more accustomed to playing harp and piano.

Between performances by the Salvadoris, Stone House guests will enjoy the madcap humor and always pleasing harmonies of the Angel Light singers. Founded by Dorice Vandenbrock, then a Hidden Valley Lake resident, about 20 years ago, the Angel Lights are perennial favorites.

This year, due to health issues for Vandenbrock, the group will perform under the leadership of Shauna
Armstrong, who has been with the Angel Lights for years.

Angel Light headquarters moved from Hidden Valley Lake to Clear Lake several years ago. They continue to appear frequently at local events, as well as in benefit concerts throughout the county. In the past month they have entertained at all of the county’s senior centers and at Orchard Park and Meadowood Home.

The Stone House, the oldest building in Lake County, will be open for touring Dec. 7 from 4 p.m. to 6:30 pm., while across the quad in the activities room next to HVLA offices, society members will offer tasty treats, refreshments and entertainment. Nonresidents may enter at the Hartmann Road gate into Hidden Valley Lake.

For further information, call 707-987-7370 or 707-987-8764.

LAKEPORT, Calif. – Lake County Probation and partner BI Incorporated will hold a transition celebration Thursday, Dec. 5, for eight offenders who successfully completed treatment classes, training and supervision requirements at the Lake County Day Reporting Center.

This is the county’s third transition celebration event for a program that was established in response to AB 109, the state’s public safety realignment initiative.

The transition celebration will be held at 5:30 p.m. at The Lodge at Blue Lakes, 5135 West Highway 20 in Upper Lake.

Speakers include Senior Deputy Probation Officer Meredith Noyer and the Superior Court Judge Michael Lunas.

The event marks completion of this program and transition to community integration. For many of the program graduates, this marks a significant milestone.

Lake County diverts up to 50 probationers to the center as an alternative to detention or for extra supervision or treatment.

Probationers go through a multiphase program that includes ongoing reporting to the center, cognitive behavioral therapy and training, and testing for drug and alcohol use.

Offenders participate in classes proven to change criminal thinking.

The Lake County Day Reporting Center is located at 1375 Hoyt Ave.

For more information, call Program Manager Patrese Scott at 707-263-1358.

COBB, Calif. – Cobb's “Christmas in the Village” celebration will be held Friday, Dec. 6.

The event, hosted by The Brick Oven Pizza, will take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

This free community event is held in the restaurant parking area with the lighting of the Christmas tree, Santa's arrival at 6 pm., caroling and cookies and cider. There will be fun for all ages.

The Brick Oven Pizza is located at 16295 Highway 175.
