LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Lakeport Yacht Club is having a rummage sale on Saturday, June 22, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The event is to raise funds to repair things slightly damaged by the winter storms.

There will be sale items on tables inside the air conditioned building.

Do not miss this event as members are bringing boxes of goodies to sell.

Come browse clothing, appliances and other items available to purchase. You never know what a yacht club member will bring to help their club.

The club is located by Library Park shoreline with plenty of parking, next to the docks so you can bring your boat, too. It is at the end of Fifth Street in Lakeport.

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Habitat for Humanity Lake County announces the planned submission of a request for funding from the USDA Rural Development Housing Preservation Grant.
 
Funds awarded will be used to assist very low and low income homeowners in repairing and rehabilitating their homes in Lake County.

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – The Lake County Rodeo is offering added prize money and awards for local competitors in the team roping and barrel racing competitions this year.

Rodeo officials said there will be an additional $500 for each contest in addition to prize monies from their entry fees.  

Gist buckles – highly prized by rodeo competitors – will be awarded to the winning header and heeler for local team roping and for the local barrel race winner.  

Added money sponsor for local team roping is R.B. Peters Trucking of Lakeport; added money sponsor for local barrel racing is Coyote Valley Pharmacy of Hidden Valley Lake.

Local barrel racers may sign up by contacting the Lake County Chamber of Commerce at 707-263-5092. Only 10 riders will be allowed on Friday and 10 on Saturday for barrel racing, no slack.

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Star Chapter 442 will hold a motorcycle ride to Armstrong Woods on Saturday, June 22.

Meet at Xsite Motorsports at 14883 Lakeshore Drive in Clearlake at 9 a.m. Kickstands go up at 9:30 a.m.

From there the group will take Lakeshore Drive to Highway 53, continuing through to Highway 29 and over gorgeous Mount St. Helena to turn at Tubbs Lane en route to Highway 128.

From there they will take Highway 128 to Porter Creek Road which becomes River Road. They will stop to grab a sack lunch at the Safeway store in Guerneville and head out Armstrong Woods Road to the Armstrong Woods State Park.

Once there they will eat lunch, stretch their legs, have a look at the Russian River, then start the return ride home.

As always, all makes and models of bikes and all licensed and insured riders are welcome.

KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – The Lake County Department of Public Works said road work around the Riviera Heights subdivision will begin this week.

From Tuesday, June 18, through Friday, July 12, Central Valley Engineering and Asphalt will perform a pavement improvement project.

Hours of operation will be Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Road closures will vary from day to day, based on the schedule below.

Emergency vehicles will be allowed access on an as-needed basis but all other traffic will have to use alternate routes through the subdivision.

Local residents have been notified of the closures and the need to use alternative routes.

• Riviera Heights Drive, from Soda Bay Road to Marina View Drive.

LAKE COUNTY

Highway 29

– Caltrans will perform routine maintenance at various locations from Lower Lake to the junction of Routes 20/29 on Tuesday, June 18, and Wednesday, June 19. Work hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate 10-minute delays.

Highway 53

– Highway widening and rehabilitation from 40th Avenue to the junction of Routes 20/53 will continue. Work hours are 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., weekdays. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate 10-minute delays. Contractor ‐ Teichert Construction of Davis.

MENDOCINO COUNTY

Highway 1

– Replacement of the Greenwood Creek Bridge will continue. One-way traffic control with a temporary signal will be in effect 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Motorists should anticipate five-minute delays. Contractor ‐ Golden State Bridge Inc. of Martinez.

– Slipout repairs 1.6 miles south of Navarro Bluff Road will continue. One-way traffic control with a temporary signal will be in effect 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Motorists should anticipate  five-minute delays. Contractor ‐ Green Right O'Way Constructors of Willits.

– Bridge painting at the Salmon Creek Bridge and the Albion River Bridge will continue. One-way traffic control with a temporary signal will be in effect 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Motorists should anticipate five-minute delays. Contractor – Jeffco Painting and Coating of Vallejo.

– Caltrans will perform routine maintenance from the Juan Creek Bridge to the Hardy Creek Bridge. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., weekdays. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate 10-minute delays.

– Replacement of a culvert with a bridge at Dunn Creek will continue. One-way traffic control with a temporary signal will be in effect 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Motorists should anticipate  five-minute delays. Contractor – Shasta Construction of Redding.

Highway 101

– Caltrans will perform slide repairs near the Korean War Veterans Memorial Bridge (near Frog Woman Rock). Northbound traffic will be restricted to one lane 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Motorists may experience minor traffic slowdowns.

– Bridge rehabilitation at the “green” Russian River Bridge will continue. Nighttime work hours are 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., weekdays. One way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate  five-minute delays. Contractor ‐ J. McLoughlin Engineering of Rancho Cucamonga.

– Vegetation removal just south of the Haehl Overhead Bridge will continue. A shoulder closure will be in effect 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Motorists may experience minor traffic slowdowns.  Contractor ‐ DeSilva Gates Construction of Dublin.

– Bridge rehabilitation at the Ash Creek Bridge will continue. Nighttime hours are 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., weekdays. One way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate 10-minute delays. Contractor ‐ J. McLoughlin Engineering of Rancho Cucamonga.

Highway 162

– Metal beam guardrail repair at various locations from the junction or Routes 101/162 to Eberle Street will continue. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., weekdays. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate  five-minute delays. Contractor ‐ Coral Construction of Wilsonville.

Work on all these projects is weather permitting and subject to change. Caltrans advises motorists to drive with caution when approaching work areas and to be prepared to stop at traffic control stations.

The Caltrans Traffic Operations Office has reviewed each project and determined that individual project delays are expected to be less than the statewide policy maximum of 30 minutes, unless noted otherwise above.
