LOWER LAKE, Calif. – The Lake County Historical Society will hold its next general membership meeting on Sunday, Sept. 23.
The meeting will be held beginning at 2 p.m. at the Lower Lake Historic Schoolhouse Museum, formerly Lower Lake Grammar School, 16435 Main St.
The meeting will feature a talk by curator Linda Lake on the history of the school. She gives an outstanding talk on the subject, including a revelation on why such a small town had such a large building for a grammar school.
As usual, the meeting, will be informal. Members and guests are allowed to – and frequently do – join in on the talks and discussions.
Displayed there and available for ticket purchase (at $1 each or 6 for $5) for a chance to win the gorgeous, hand-stitched, queen size quilt by Daisy Gawellek, “Churn Dash.” The quilt is usually displayed at the Ely Stage Stop & Country Museum.
Members, guests and all are welcome to attend – no charge.
The historical society will provide light refreshments; donated cake and cookies will be appreciated. Dig out your best cookie recipe and bring them on.
