KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – The Ely Stage Stop and Country Museum, operated by the Lake County Historical Society, will be closed Sunday, April 20, in observance of Easter.

The museum will reopen Saturday, April 26.

The museum is located at 9921 Soda Bay Road (Highway 281) in Kelseyville, near the Clear Lake Riviera.

Normal hours of operation are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. each Saturday and Sunday.

MIDDLETOWN, Calif. – Calpine Geothermal Visitors Center will celebrate Earth Day on Saturday, April 26.

The focus for this year’s Earth Day event, which takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., is animal, vegetable and mineral.

Calpine will host the day’s events along with tours to The Geysers.

The fun-filled day will feature animal exhibits by 4-H; master gardeners ready to provide advice; Star Gardens Nursery hosting an assortment of appropriate plants for your garden space; while the Rockhounds will be ready to tell all about minerals and teach panning for gold.  

Calpine team members will be around to share more about The Geysers, the exhibit hall and the area’s geology.

Lake County Vector Control, Lake County Special Districts, Lake County Sheriff’s Office, South Lake County Fire Council, and other organizations will be onsite to provide valuable information with ideas for activities in nature provided by the Sierra Club, Redbud Audubon Society and Lake County Land Trust.   

Stop by the EcoArts tent to participate in an outdoor art project telling the story of Calpine’s Fish Ladder project which helps Russian River steelhead get up river. Learn the story and add your own fish.

On stage, the band Blind Spot will be featured along with intermittent student performances during the day.  Local nonprofits such as the Lake County International Charter School will provide food for sale.

CLEARLAKE, Calif. – The regular meeting of the Clearlake Planning Commission scheduled for Tuesday, April 15, has been canceled.

The commission is next scheduled to meet in early May in the council chambers at Clearlake City Hall, 14050 Olympic Drive.

KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – Kelseyville Presbyterian Church is hosting its Fiesta Dinner to be held Friday, April 25, from 5 to 7 p.m.

The dinner will include enchilada casserole, tacos, rice and beans that will be prepared and served by a staff of incredible cooks.

Prices are $10 for adults and $5 for kids under 10. Take out dinners will be available as well.

All proceeds from the dinner benefit the church deacons' local community outreach programs.

CLEARLAKE, Calif. – Yuba College's Clear Lake campus will celebrate Earth Day on Tuesday, April 22.

The Earth Day event at the Clear Lake Campus will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with set up starting at 10:30 a.m.

Community groups, students, and classes will have booths, entertainment, and resources to educate and inform the community on the environmental, ecological and educational issues related to Earth Day.

There will be exhibitors with tables of information, live entertainment, guest speakers, activities and more.

The college's culinary program will be cooking and having walk-ins to their green restaurant.
