LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Lake County Public Services Director Caroline Chavez announced that the Eastlake Landfill and the Lakeport Public Services office will be closed Thursday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day.

Residential and commercial collection will occur one day after your normal pick up day.

Normal collection schedules will resume the week following the holiday.

The Eastlake Landfill and the Public Services office will reopen Friday, July 5.
 
Normal operating hours at the landfill are 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.  

The Public Services office normally is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Chi Council for the Clear Lake Hitch will hold it next meeting on Wednesday, June 26.

The meeting will begin at 3:30 p.m. at the Lake County Agriculture Department, 883 Lakeport Blvd.

CLEARLAKE OAKS, Calif. – The Lake County Stonewall Democratic Club will host its monthly potluck and meeting on Monday, June 24.

The group will meet in the social hall of the Clearlake Oaks United Methodist Church, 12487 The Plaza.

The potluck will begin at 6:30 p.m., with the call to order at 7 p.m.

The guest speaker this month will be Sheriff Frank Rivero.

This meeting is open to the public and the community is encouraged to attend.

Please bring a canned or other nonperishable item to the Stonewall Club meeting.

All donations go to support Community Care HIV/AIDS Program Food Pantry.

LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Lake County Move to Amend chapter will hold its next meeting on Tuesday, June 18.

The group will meet from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. upstairs at Cheese's Pizza, 145 N. Main St. in Lakeport.

The Move to Amend coalition is working to grow grassroots support for a constitutional amendment that clearly and unequivocally states that rights recognized under the Constitution belong to human beings only, not to artificial legal entities such as corporations or labor unions, and political campaign spending is not a form of speech protected under the First Amendment.

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – For those who still haven't submitted comments on the state's review of an application to designate the Clear Lake hitch an endangered species, the deadline is this week.

Comments can be submitted to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife by this Friday, June 14.

The Center for Biological Diversity submitted the application last fall and earlier this year the California Fish and Game Commission decided to begin a yearlong review process, as Lake County News has reported.
