LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Lake County Passion Play is holding its annual fundraising dinner on Saturday, Aug. 10.

The dinner will be held beginning at 4 p.m. in the beautiful backyard at the home of Jose and Evy Escalante, 3335 Compton Ave. in Lakeport.

Dinner will include grilled tri-tip steak with a vegetable quinoa, fresh summer fruit salsa, green salad, rolls and dessert.

There will be a no host wine and beer bar, a raffle, a live auction with auctioneer, Bill Kearney, and live music for listening and dancing by the LC Diamonds.

Tickets are $25 per person.

LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Lakeport Traffic Safety Advisory Committee will meet on Wednesday, July 17.

The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. in the front conference room at Lakeport City Hall, 225 Park St.

The main discussion and action item is a request from Cheese’s Main Street Pizza for a 20-minute parking zone on Main Street adjacent to the business.

The request is meant to help provide for parking for the business’ delivery vehicle.

Citizen members include Ann Blue, Vicki Cole, Wally Cox, Steve Jones, Kermit Knudson and Suzanne Russell. City staffers who sit on the commission include City Engineer Scott Harter, Police Chief Brad Rasmussen, City Clerk Janel Chapman and Engineering Technician Brian Everhart.

LAKEPORT, Calif. – A ribbon cutting and dedication of the new “Jane Barnes Field” sign at Westside Community Park will take place on Thursday, July 25.

The event will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the park, 1401 Westside Park Road in Lakeport.

The sign is in memory of the late Jane Barnes, a longtime community member and youth advocate whose family has been one of the largest donors to the park’s development.

The ribbon cutting will take place at 6 p.m.

Refreshments will be served.

LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Lake County Fair Board will meet on Monday, July 22.

The meeting will begin at 4:45 p.m. at the administration office at the Lake County Fairgrounds, 401 Martin St., Lakeport.

Action items include the 2014 Lake County Fair theme and selection of the volunteer of the year.

The board also will discuss the 2013 fair times, admission prices, carnival and grandstand entertainment.

Fair board directors include President Janeane Bogner, Vice President Marcia Chauvin, Sham Cochrane, Annette Hopkins, Meyo Marrufo, Jerry McQueen, Carol Brandt, Dr. Paul Marchand and Doug Rhoades.

HIDDEN VALLEY LAKE, Calif. – Branch 133 of the Sons In Retirement will hold its next meeting on Friday, July 19.

The group meets at Greenview Room, Hidden Valley Lake Golf Course, 19210 Hartman Road, on the third Friday of each month.

The meeting starts at 11 a.m., with lunch served at noon.

Sons In Retirement is a social organization for men of retirement age who are pursuing the goal of enjoying their later years. It has 142 branches with 18,000 members throughout the state.

CLEARLAKE, Calif. – The Clearlake Planning Commission’s regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, July 16, has been canceled.

The commission is next scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, in the council chambers at Clearlake City Hall, 14050 Olympic Drive.
