MIDDLETOWN, Calif. – Members of the Middletown Area Town Hall (MATH) Redevelopment Committee will facilitate a grant application strategy session on Thursday, Feb. 3.

 

The session will begin at 4:30 p.m. at the Cowpoke Café, 21118 Calistoga Road.

 

MATH is seeking funding to create a design for streetscape, landscape and traffic safety improvements along the Highway 29 corridor. The focus is to improve upon an application which was denied in 2010.

 

The group is not seeking specific design ideas, but narratives that describe Middletown’s unique problems and opportunities, issues and stakeholders.

 

The want to hear community members' ideas in order to formulate a winning submission.

 

Agenda items include review and revision of the existing transportation planning grant application, and letters of recommendation from stakeholders.

CLEARLAKE OAKS, Calif. – The Lake County Democratic Central Committee will meet on Thursday, Feb. 3, at Clearlake Oaks United Methodist Church in Clearlake Oaks and will begin at 7 p.m.

 

Agenda items include standing committee appointments, and results of a survey to determine issues and projects that will be a priority for the group for 2011-12.

 

Also, on the agenda are reports from the representatives for Congressman Mike Thompson, Assemblyman Wes Chesbro and Sen. Noreen Evans, and reports from Lake County and Stonewall Democratic Club representatives.

 

The ad hoc committee appointed to review the annual barbecue fundraiser and bring suggestions to enhance the event will give a report of their findings and recommendations.

 

Meetings are open to the public and committee membership is open to all registered Democrats.

 

The Lake County Democratic Central Committee is the official governing body of the Democratic Party in Lake County.

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – KPFZ 88.1 FM's “Earth Wise,” will feature Dr. Peter Phillips of Project Censored on Friday, Jan. 28.

 

The show will air from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

 

Phillips is professor of sociology and media studies at Sonoma State University.

 

He heads up Project Censored, founded by Dr. Carl Jensen.

 

Phillips has just published the 13th edition of the "Censored" yearbook and writes for independent media nationwide.

LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Lakeport Senior Center will host a “senior prom” on Monday, Jan. 31.

 

The 1950s-themed dance and potluck dinner will take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the center, 527 Konocti Ave.

 

Lakeport Activity Center is turning into Rydell High School for an evening of fun and entertainment.

 

The dinner is a potluck and begins at 6:15 p.m.

 

There will be "spiked" punch available, and everyone is encouraged to bring your own beverage.

 

ACT UP will be entertaining the crowds with some lively characters and skits

 

DJ "Flipper" from KPFZ 88.1 FM will be mixing the tunes for the night

LAKEPORT, Calif. – The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 88 of Lake County, will meet on Saturday, Feb. 5.

 

The meeting will convene at 9:30 a.m. at the Lakeport Yacht Club building, located at the Fifth Stree boat launching ramp in Lakeport.

 

The agenda will include possible change of meeting place and meeting day and planning for upcoming activities for 2011.
