Our beautiful loving Sarah has passed away unexpectedly.

She was born in Petaluma but was raised in Lakeport. She attended Lakeport schools through junior high but graduated Kelseyville High.

Throughout these years she was active in band playing the flute, sports, Sea Scouts and enjoyed camping. She loved to ride her horse Trixie.

After high school she attended College of the Redwoods and fell in love with the ocean, mountains and trees.

She interned for the city of Arcata in environmental services and volunteered for Arcata Marsh and Wildlife Sanctuary to pursue her major in water conservation and treatment.

When a family emergency came up, she left her beloved Humboldt and returned to her home in Lakeport in order to help with her nephew Phil whom she loved immensely.

Shortly after returning, she became a substitute para educator for the Lakeport Unified School District.

Friendship came easily for Sarah due to her warm and loving nature. Her beautiful smile and down-to-earth personality made her lifelong friends. She loved animals and rescued the ones that became her pets.

To Sarah, family always came first. She had a heart of gold and always considered others before herself. Sarah had a lifelong love affair with music, as she said music heals the soul.

Always fun loving, Sarah was such a beautiful woman inside and out, she will be greatly missed.

Sarah joins her brother Christopher in heaven where they will be together forever, “stronger than dirt.”

She leaves behind her parents, David and Carmen Schultz; sister, Julia (Marc) Arteaga; niece, Maya and nephew, Philadice; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Memorial service will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 14, at Chapel of the Lakes, 1625 N. High St., Lakeport.
