LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Evelyn D. Cole passed away Nov. 13, 2014, at the age of 89, due to complications after surgery.

She was born in Spring Hill, Iowa, and attended Granger High School where she met the love of her life, Clint Cole.

They were married January 4, 1945 in Madera, Calif., when Clint returned from the South Pacific during World War II after being wounded.

They moved to Finley, Calif., in 1946 where they met their longtime friends, Bill and Alice Sperling. They all camped hunted and took trips together for many years. They traveled to Alaska and Hawaii with Bill and Alice and have wonderful memories.

Evelyn worked in the munitions factory in Iowa and also picked walnuts for many local ranches.

She enjoyed ceramics, oil painting, photography and the Finley Sewing Club.

Evelyn leaves behind her children, Paula Cole and Ken (Melanie) Cole; sister, Bonnie Herrold; nephew, Randy Herrold, both from Granger, Iowa; grandchildren, Natalie (Brad) Catalane, Nicole McKeon, Merissa (Jeremy) Peek, all from Washington, Lucas (Amber) Cole, Clint (Jamie) Cole, Kathie (Craig) Cole, Tim Koich and Tonya Koich; 10 beloved great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews, Bill and Cora Shipley, Rositta Ansel, Susie Ward and Manny, all from Fresno.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Clint, and son, Bill Cole.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, at Kelseyville Cemetery.

A reception to celebrate her life will follow at the Kelseyville Lions Club, 4335 Syler Lane.

KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – Frank Robert Knutson passed away Nov. 16, 2014, at his Kelseyville home. He was 82.

He is survived by his son, William L. Knutson of Commerce, Texas.

Frank will be laid to rest at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, Calif., at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25.

CLEARLAKE, Calif. – William C. McAdoo Jr. entered into rest in Clearlake on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014, at the age of 49.

A native of San Diego, William had lived in Sonoma County and resided in Clearlake for a short time.

William is survived by his mother, Shirley McAdoo of Lakeview, Ore.; and sister, Morgen Houlis of San Luis Obispo.

He was preceded in death by his father, CDR. William Curtis McAdoo Sr.

Larry Joe Pool was born June 5, 1942, and passed away Nov. 17, 2014.

Joe is survived by a son, Mike Pool of Sandpoint, Idaho; two daughters, Mandy Harley of Nyssa, Ore., and Christy Pool of Central Point, Ore; and grandchildren, Katy Seigler of Zephyer Hills, Fla., Jayne Youtsey of Nyssa, Ore., and Halea and Chandler Shade of Medford, Ore.

Joe grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area before moving to the Rogue Valley in 1970.

He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed deer and duck hunting, fishing, and was a professional bass fisherman for years.

Joe also enjoyed team roping and calf roping as a younger man.

He was an entrepreneur, starting the restaurant Eddy’s and an embroidery business as well as being an equipment operator.

Joe moved to Clearlake, Calif., in 2005 after the death of his beloved wife, JoAnne. There he pursued his bass fishing and love of the water until moving to Nyssa, Ore., to be close to Mandy and Jayne in 2011.

Joe was an outgoing person and friend to many he will greatly missed by his family and many friends.

Services will be at Conger-Morris Mortuary, Central Point, Ore., at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25.

Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery where Joe will be laid to rest next to his wife, JoAnne.

CLEARLAKE, Calif. – In loving memory of Betty Jo Gard.

She passed away peacefully on Nov. 17, 2014.

She was born May 1, 1937, in West Plains, Mo., to Bertha Russell.

Mother and child lived in several states (where Bertha’s work took them) until they settled in Fresno, Calif. There Betty Jo married “Rusty” Trively in January 1955.

She gave birth to their five children over the next years as they moved northward and settled in Lake County.

In 1974 Betty Jo married her second husband, Gene Gard, who survives her.

She also is survived by four of her children: Marvin Trively, Mary Frann Trively Ainsworth, David Trively (Daisy) and Suzy Trively Pearson (plus Suzy’s sons, Sam and Lyle Pearson).

She is also survived by her many stepchildren and many grandchildren, by several nieces, nephews and cousins; and by two aunts, Mary Afdem in Arizona and Ruth Pipes in Fresno.

She is preceded in death by her beloved mother, Bertha Russell Gard, who passed away in October of 2014, and her beloved daughter, Kat Trively who passed away in February of 2014.

Betty Jo spent her adult life working as a homemaker, as a mother and as a wage earner. She was a babysitter, a clothes ironer, a waitress and cook in restaurants, a secretary and, beginning about 1968, for 15 and a half years she worked for the telephone company that became “AT&T,” first as an operator for four years, then as a supply person, loading supplies on the repair trucks.

She was noted for all the amazing sewing and handwork she did: knitting, crochet, embroidery, especially beautiful handmade quilts. She also had an extensive flower garden that was admired by all.

She was known for her extreme generosity, and selflessness. If you wanted something made or needed help with just about anything, Betty Jo was your “go to” person.

Betty Jo never met a stranger. She was always open-minded and understanding. Except when it came to her name. She insisted she be called Betty Jo, not Betty and you would be corrected immediately if you misspoke.

LAKEPORT, Calif. – Jerry Mullin passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Nov. 16, 2014, in Lakeport.

She was born to Frank and Lucille Moore on April 19, 1928, in Iowa and resided in Lake County since 1972.

Jerry was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Oscar Mullin.

She is survived her children, Coleen Brown and Mark Ballard of Vacaville; Mike and Vanessa Mullin of Cobb; Terry and Diane Mullin of Athol, Idaho; Michaela and Steve Strickler of Cobb; Jim Mullin and Candace Phillips of Lakeport; and John and Jennifer Mullin of Hidden Valley Lake.

Jerry also is survived by her grandchildren, Max, Alicia, Michael, Christopher, Melanie, Jake, Zach, Amber, Darren, Justin and Todd.

In addition, she leaves behind great-grandchildren, Carissa, Trey, Brenna, Milla, Mikey and Kamari.

Services will be held at noon Saturday, Nov. 22, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Middletown, with interment immediately following at Lower Lake Cemetery and a reception following at Hidden Valley Lake Country Club.
