Marilyn Hoberg Angelley
LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Marilyn Hoberg Angelley was born Oct. 14, 1931, and passed Sept. 20, 2015.
Marilyn was the daughter of George Hoberg Sr. and Gertrude Suhr Hoberg, beloved sister of George Hoberg Jr. and dear wife of William Angelley.
She is survived by her daughters, Pamela (Ken) Hook and Butchie (Doug) Knowles, and dearest life-long friends, Jack and Diane Gilford.
She has four wonderful grandchildren, Kate (Ken) Goldfine, Marilyn Hook, Kory Hook and Dylan Knowles. Marilyn also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews.
Marilyn was the fourth generation of her family to live on Cobb. Some of her fondest memories were of growing up at Hoberg's Resort during its “heyday” with her cousins Jane, Beverly and Richard Hoberg, and Don and Anne Marie Hoberg.
Marilyn met her future husband, Bill, at the Pine Bowl where you could "dance the night away under the stars." They were married for 52 years.
They endured the loss of their first home in a forest fire in 1962, and built a beautiful new home in 1964 in Pine Summit Estates. Marilyn lived there for the rest of her life, until the last few months. She never knew of the devastating losses from the Valley fire, which took her home and her beloved Hoberg's Resort.
Marilyn worked as the clerk of the Lake County Superior Court for 25 years, a job she found challenging and rewarding. She loved to golf at the Hoberg's Forest Lake Golf Course and she was a talented artist.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, at United Christian Parish in Lakeport, with a reception to follow. Inurnment will be private at Glenbrook Cemetery.
Marilyn's family would like to thank Brookdale Assisted Living Facility for the excellent and loving care they provided for Mama until her death.
The family would prefer donations in lieu of flowers to Hospice of Lake County, Lake County Animal Care and Control or The American Cancer Society.
