KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – Phyllis Irene Harvey was born to Anson and Hazel Hamner on July 26, 1926, and passed away at 91, on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017, at her home of 43 years in Kelseyville.

Phyllis is survived by her loving cousin, Velma Thomas; daughters, Nancy (Walt) Wedemeyer and Linda (Jim) Mohler; grandchildren, Cheryl (Sorjen) Manangar, Jolene DeLuca, Lisa (Glen) Easterbrook, Stephen (Christina) Mohler, Paul Mohler; great-grandchildren, Stephen John, Brett, Chas, Emma, Sarah and Alissa; nieces, Karen Lynn (Mike) Binder and Shelly Hamner; great-nieces and great-nephews, Scott (Jeanette) Binder, Bradley Binder, Phillip and Alexis Morales; great-great-nephews, France and Dylan Binder; and her longtime friend, Emmy (Mark) Browning.

She is predeceased by her brother, Anson Jr., and grandson, David Mohler.

Phyllis was a very loving and very generous person who loved traveling and enjoyed being with family and friends. She could make friends with everyone.

She also enjoyed reading and taking care of her plants; she definitely had a green thumb.

Her life was filled with lots of love and joy. "Our Love" will be truly missed, “love you much and a hug.”

Funeral services will be held at Chapel of the Lakes Mortuary, 1625 N. High St. in Lakeport on Saturday, Sept. 16, at 10 a.m.

A reception will follow at Buckingham Homeowners Association Club House at 2850 Eastlake Drive, Kelseyville.

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Richard James Gleed, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away on Aug. 27, 2017, at the age of 83.

Dick was born on May 5, 1934, to James and Eleanor Gleed in San Francisco.

The family moved to Campbell, Calif., where he was very active at Campbell High School in different clubs, acted in school plays, and was a leader on league championship teams in wrestling and football.

He was All-League (most outstanding player), All-County, All North Coast, third team All-Northern California, and was chosen for the California North vs. South All-Star football game.

After high school, Dick served in the Army for two years and then attended Chico State College to become a teacher.

Dick and Barbara were married in 1959 and had their son, Steve, before moving to Lake County to start his teaching career. Scott and Reneé came along soon after.

Dick taught woodshop and drafting at Lower Lake High School for 33 years. He so enjoyed teaching and worked hard at giving the students the best program he could. He also coached wrestling, cross-country track and football. He was not only a teacher, but a mentor to his students.

Dick enjoyed life, every phase of it. He enjoyed working with wood; started with making items for the kids, then birdhouses, which are on trees throughout our property, duck decoys and beautiful duck calls.

He enjoyed the Mendocino coastline with camping, and then renting houses for the family to spend time together. Dick loved to have a fun time, oh the stories he could tell. Reno trips were fun times.

He and his family have lived in Lake County for 56 years and have made many wonderful friends along the way.

Dick leaves behind his wife, Barbara; children, Steve, Scott (Suzanne), and Reneé (Joey) Brodnik; grandchildren, Brittany and Ashley Gleed, Trae Brodnik, Hunter and Kylee Gleed; brother, George (Mary); nephews, nieces, and their families, and many wonderful friends whom he so enjoyed.

Dick liked the saying, "All of us will die, but not all of us have lived – I lived." We miss your love and having you with us so much, but we know you are in heaven pain-free and with Gordon Sadler playing pranks on everyone.

A celebration of Dick's life will be held at the Cornelison Event Center at the Konocti Education Center in Clearlake located at 15850 Dam Road Extension (gym at Oak Hill Middle School) on Saturday, Sept. 23, at 11 a.m.

CLEARLAKE, Calif. – In loving memory of Bruce Chapman – an adored husband, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend who passed away at the age of 80 on Aug. 27, 2017.

At the time, he was living at his home in Clearlake, where he resided for 17 years.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Chapman; his children, Tami Chapman, Scott Chapman, Keith Chapman and Kathleen Freno; his four grandchildren, Brad, Jacqui, Trevor and Gina; and three great-grandchildren, Vivienne, Julien and Felicienne.

Bruce was born in New York in 1937 and moved to California when he was a teenager.

He served in the Air Force and worked as an architect. After living in Los Angeles and Benicia for many years, Bruce retired in Clearlake in the year 2000.

In his spare time, Bruce loved to fish, sail and spend time with his wife, Sharon.

Bruce was the happiest when he was sailing at sea or fishing. He had a great sense of humor and was always willing to laugh at himself and those around him.

Bruce also loved animals, especially his cats, and he enjoyed watching his favorite baseball team, the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Bruce’s dedication services will be held at the Jones and Lewis Clearlake Memorial Chapel in Lower Lake on Saturday, Sept. 16, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

NORTHERN CALIFORNIA – On Sept. 5, 2017, Larry Mark Simon passed peacefully in his sleep in Deer Park (St. Helena).

He was born on Nov. 19, 1951, in Deer Park to Luke and Dorothy Simon. He was the younger brother of Marcel Simon (predeceased).

Larry was a tribal elder of the Middletown Rancheria of Pomo Indians of California, also known as the Lake Miwok Nation. He was Lake Miwok and Wintun, and served his tribe as a tribal chairman and had the foresight to create the Twin Pine Casino for the betterment of his people.

He also served on the first Middletown Rancheria Business Council, to develop the second phase of the Twin Pine Casino, as well as negotiated gaming contracts. He created the first Elder Gathering at Middletown Rancheria and personally invited neighboring tribal elders to attend.

He was an entrepreneur with native products in California and throughout the United States, with the origination of his business, Two Feather. Before he served his tribe, the Middletown Rancheria, Larry was a heavy equipment operator for 30 years.

For several years he served as a mentor in guidance for members of the tribal council. In recent years, he served as a member of the Tribal Elder Committee for the Tribal Historic Preservation Department and provided integral insight into the history of the ancestral lands of the Lake Miwok.

He was very knowledgeable of the land, history, culture and people, and although he loved to hunt he also provided for his family when food was scarce. He was a traditional spear-fisher and excellent hunter.

He enjoyed challenging others to grow, visiting friends and family throughout California, sharing his stories of old times, he loved to watch football and westerns, spending time with family, coming up with new ideas for business ventures for himself and others, trap shooting and gambling.

Larry was a father, grandfather, uncle and cousin and a friend to many.

He is survived by daughter, Leslie Keenan; son Jeffery Keenan; granddaughter, Autumn Keenan; grandson, Jaid Keenan; grandson, Revel Keenan; nephew, Landon Simon; niece, Ericka Gartner; cousins, Jose Simon Jr., Mildred Simon and Robert Simon.

He was preceded in death by father Luke Simon; mother, Dorothy Simon; brother, Marcel Simon; and sister, Esther Silvas.
