Richard was born in Oakland, Calif., on July 3, 1933, and passed peacefully in his Glendale, Ariz., home on July 24, 2017, at the age of 84 from natural causes.
A veteran, he served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict followed by many years as a merchant seaman, traveling around the globe numerous times.
A “people person,” Rich was a longtime classic men’s barber, practicing on Matson cruise lines, in San Francisco hotels and later in Lake County, Calif., where he was known as the unofficial “Mayor of Clearlake” at his log cabin shop on Lakeshore Drive. There he also obtained his real estate license and was a successful agent in a profession he truly loved.
Rich and his wife, Sharon, resided in Lake County from 1976 to 1999, when they relocated to Lakewood, Colo., where his son, Donald, was living at the time and his first grandson was about to be born.
Survivors include his spouse, Sharon; sons, Don (Phoenix), Rick (San Mateo) and Tom (Reno); grandsons, Vincent and Eli (Colorado); granddaughters, Natalie and Isabel (California); numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; good friends Donald and Patricia Treppa (Lakeport), and Norma and Rob Hodges (Kelseyville); and his buddy, a Swiss Mountain dog, Jackson.
