Reggie Allen Duncan, age 57, passed away on Nov. 12, 2012, unexpectedly.  

He was born on June 13, 1955, to Richard and Ruth Duncan in Los Angeles, Calif.

Reggie had the heart and soul of a saint who would always give encouraging words and help to everyone he met. He loved spending time with his family and friends, target shooting, motorcycles, classic cars and remote control racing.

Reggie was a mechanic at the county of Lake for 28 years, a member of the Konocti Rod and Gun Club, and an Upper Lake Water District board member. Everyone he met loved his smile, his laugh and his bright blue eyes.

Reggie was met by his father, mother and brother.

Reggie is survived by his wife Valerie; daughter Maia; son Tyler’ all his special life-long friends; his Lake County Central Garage friends; his Konocti Rod and Gun friends; his RC friends; and his two favorite companions, his dogs Raven and Jasmine.

Everyone he met in his life will miss him. We love you and miss you.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, Nov. 19, at 11:30 a.m. at Upper Lake Cemetery. A “Celebration of Reggie’s Life” will follow at Upper Lake High School Cafeteria.

The family requests that donations be made to the Konocti Rod and Gun Club (371 Lakeport Blvd., No. 345, Lakeport, CA 95453) for the Reggie Duncan Scholarship.

Matthew Glen Dupler, aka “The Dupe,” passed away on Nov. 8, 2012. He was 21 years old.

To all of those whose lives he touched, he was a blessing with a heart of gold.

He lived in Lake County, Calif., his whole life and graduated from Upper Lake High School. Afterwards he went on to Mendocino College, where he spent his time tutoring.

Matthew was bright, intelligent and full of life.

He is survived by a family that loved him and friends who will never forget him.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Upper Lake Methodist Church, 604 Clover Valley Road, Upper Lake, Calif.

Eva Margaret Best, a Lakeport, Calif., resident, passed peacefully Nov. 5, 2012, at the age of 93.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, at the Seventh-day Adventist Church of Upper Lake, 699 Second St.

Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. She will be laid to rest at San Joaquin National Cemetery.

Betty Louise (Rygg) Andre
August 22, 1920 – November 2, 2012

Betty passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and caregivers on Nov. 2, 2012.

Betty Louise Rygg was born in Chicago, Illinois. She was the eldest of two daughters born to Jonas and Gudrun Rygg.

Betty’s parents immigrated to the United States from Norway and she was very proud of her Norwegian heritage.

After graduating high school Betty went to work as a secretary, putting to use her typing and shorthand skills. Betty often said that had she not grown up in the Depression, she would have loved to have attended college to become a kindergarten teacher.

In her later years, Betty’s greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.

During World War II, Betty enlisted in the W.A.V.E.S., the women’s branch of the U.S. Navy  and was stationed in Alameda, Calif.

Through relatives, Betty met the Andre family of San Francisco where she met her future husband, Arthur Andre, the eldest of the Andre brothers, who was also in the U.S. Navy, serving in the Construction Battalion in the Pacific.  

After a courtship mainly through letters, Betty and Art were married on March 28, 1953, in Chicago, Ill. They made their home in San Francisco, where their three children were born.

In 1957, the family moved to Tiburon, Calif., where they lived until moving to Kelseyville in the summer of 1972.

Soon after moving to Lake County, Betty began working as a secretary for the pastors of Kelseyville Presbyterian and Galilee Lutheran Church for almost 20 years. She enjoyed using her secretarial skills in the service of the Lord. Betty was an active member of Galilee Lutheran Church for 40 years.

Betty lived with Alzheimer’s for more than 10 years. Thanks to the efforts of her family, friends, Hospice and caregivers, Betty was able to remain in her home.  

For several years, Betty attended the Adult Day Care/Respite program at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Clearlake where she enjoyed the companionship and activities, especially music.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Jonas and Gudrun Rygg, and her beloved husband, Arthur Andre.

She is survived by her sister, Marie Kohl, of Downer’s Grove, Ill.; her daughter, Kristine (Steven) Stocker; sons David (Lynn) and Mark (Christie Fricke) Andre; grandchildren: Jennifer (Adam) Kubo, Nicole, Megan, Craig Andre; and step-grandchildren Barbara Stocker Schwenke, Joseph (Joani) Stocker; and step great-grandchildren Drake, Logan Schwenke and Brennan Stocker.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, at Galilee Lutheran Church, 8860 Soda Bay Road, Kelseyville. Immediately following the service, a coffee and cookie reception will be held at the Fellowship Hall.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lake County 1717 S. Main St., Lakeport, or Adult Day Care/Respite of Clearlake.

Lawrence W. Weaver Sr., loving father and husband, passed peacefully Nov. 9 at St. Helena Hospital, St. Helena.

He enjoyed fishing and was a truck driver for 30 years.

Lawrence is survived by his wife, Selena, and son Cameron of Lakeport, Calif.; his daughter, Chastity of Morrilton, Arkansas; and son Lawrence Jr. of Borger, TX.

He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

LAKEPORT, Calif. – Visitation for Lawrence Weaver, who passed unexpectedly on Friday, Nov. 9, will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 14.
