Lena Peckham passed away peacefully on Feb. 12, 2013, with her family at her bedside. She was 91 years old.

She leaves behind her beloved husband of 72 years, Willard; three daughters; seven grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

Lena was born in Mississippi and moved with her sister to California at age 8.
 
She lived in Burbank until 1972 when she and Willard retired and moved to Clearlake Oaks, Calif., where they had lived for the past 40 years.

Even with her severe memory loss and dementia, Lena remained her sweet and loving self to the end.

She and Willard recently had moved to Lucerne to live with their youngest daughter, Janice, and her husband, Carl.

A celebration of Lena’s life is scheduled for mid April, with the date to be announced later. Her grandson and grandson-in-law will speak at the service.

“She was a wonderful mom and lady, I feel very privileged to have had her for so many years and to have taken care of her for the last few years,” said her daughter, Janice.
 
Donations may be made to Hospice Services of Lake County or the Alzheimer's Association.

Graveside services for Peter Vaughn Rice, who passed away February 26, 2013, will be held at noon, Tuesday, March 5, at Hartley Cemetery

Peter was a devoted husband, and loving father who served honorably in the US Navy.

He will be dearly missed but never forgotten.

Don Liccio
Jan. 17, 1955-Feb. 23, 2013

Don grew up in South San Francisco and moved to Lake County in 1982 where he worked a a welder.  

He enjoyed the outdoors, participated in the Iron Man competition and was a bicycle enthusiast.

He is survived by his children, Christina and Anthony; grandchildren, Armando, Kahlil, Calise and Kian; mother, Juanita; sisters, Joanne Liccio, Diana (Dean) Smith and Debbie (Bruce) Mevis.

Don was preceded in death by his father, Angelo.

He was the best Dad and Grandpa, he loved taking his grandchildren fishing. He was fun loving and gave his family and friends lots of laughter with his sense of humor and practical jokes.

He will be dearly missed.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 1, at Chapel of the Lakes Mortuary, 1625 N. High St., Lakeport, Calif.

Elsie Attebery
Dec. 13, 1923-Feb. 21, 2013

Elsie's life ended peacefully on Feb. 21, 2013, at the Cloverdale Healthcare Center after a short illness and a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Elsie was born and raised in Middlesboro, Tennessee. After high school she traveled to Sacramento, Calif.

While staying at the YWCA she received training as a machinist to aid in the war effort.  It was there that she met Bob and they were married on Jan. 3, 1943.

They first lived in South San Francisco, then San Leandro, and finally moving to Hayward where they lived for over 60 years. It was there that she worked at a candy store and at Hagstrom's Market. She was an avid seamstress and would drop everything if someone wanted to go "shopping.”

After retiring Elsie settled in as a housewife, mother, and most importantly being "Gramma" and "Gege" to her grandkids.

Elsie and family enjoyed countless years in Lake County during summer vacations and visiting relatives and friends around the lake. She moved to Lakeport in 2006 to be close to family.

Elsie is survived by her sister, Eleanor, "Sandy" Howell of Little Rock, Arkansas; her loving daughters, Jeannie Lynn of Milwaukee, Ore., Barbara Jo "BJ" (John) Woods of Lakeport, Calif., and Gerrie "Seryna" Templeman of Santa Rosa, Calif. Elsie also leaves behind eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, along with a host of friends.

Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Della; husband, Bob; son, Mitchell, "Mitch"; sisters, Emma Lee, Margaret and Dorothy; brothers, Ross, William and James; granddaughter, Tina Lynn; and great-grandson, Cody Templeman.

A memorial will be held for Elsie and her late husband Bob at United Christian Parish, 745 Brush St., Lakeport, at 2 p.m., March 23, 2013.

A private internment will be held later at Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward, Calif.

William Raymond Swanson passed suddenly Feb. 17, 2013, at the age of 67.

Beloved son of Raymond and Evelyn; brother of James and John; uncle to Jessica, Kristal, Valerie and Joey.

A private memorial service will be held at a future date.

LAKEPORT, Calif. – Elmer Carroll of the Big Valley Rancheria passed away on Friday, Feb. 22, 2013.

His family and friends invite the community to join them beginning at 11 a.m. Friday, March 1, at the rancheria's gymnasium/community center, located at 1002 Soda Bay Road, Lakeport.

Viewing and sharing of any stories about him they may not have heard yet will continue until the graveside service on Saturday, March 2, at 11 a.m., at St. Mary's Cemetery.
