The $15 ($12.50/per person for studio club members) wine sampler and appetizers by Park Place Restaurant will showcase Stonehouse Cellars 2015 Grenache Rosé with strawberry and brie in a toasted phyllo shell, the 2015 Grenache with devils on horseback (Applewood bacon-wrapped Medjool dates stuffed with Pt. Reyes blue cheese), 2015 Coyote Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon and crispy heritage pork belly with umami gastrique, and the 2015 Coyote Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon with Maldon salted brownie bites.
A former graphic arts and printing professional, artist Terry Taylor first became interested in art while in high school.
Taylor served in the U.S. Army for two years and following his tour of duty he attended Marin College where he studied Art History, and then attended the San Francisco Art Institute.
During the 1980s he studied drawing and painting from the renowned Italian painter, Roberto Lupetti. Lupetti’s teaching changed Taylor’s approach to painting and his techniques influenced his style.
Taylor then progressed to working with charcoal and pastels. He liked the process of these two mediums and how he was able to blend, layer, and create depth and softness.
The story of Stonehouse Cellars began in 2010 when two families sought an escape from the hustle of everyday city life. The Stratmann and Jones families found a ranch property located in old Long Valley that is richly steeped in history beginning with the native Pomo people. There is an old stone-built house on the property dating back to 1906, inspiring the name Stonehouse Cellars.
The first vineyard block of Cabernet Sauvignon was planted on the ranch in 1976 with cuttings that were propagated from the Fay vineyard in Napa.
The Fay vineyard has a backstory connection to the California Cabernet which won at the famous Judgment of Paris wine tasting of 1976. Additional blocks of Cabernet were added in 1995 and 2002.
With the 2010 change in ownership, the vines were revitalized and a mix use winery with guest rooms was designed and built, launching the new Bed & Barrel at Stonehouse Cellars. The year 2013 was the first vintage harvested for production under the Stonehouse Cellars brand. The Grenache harvest came from their neighbor's vineyard, and plans are underway for estate Sauvignon Blanc.
Jake Bridges is a member of the winemaking team as well as heading up operations for the farm, tasting room and Inn at Stonehouse, and will be at the Wine Studio during the receptions to meet with guests and talk about the wines.
